Photorejuvenation
What is Photorejuvenation?
Photorejuvenation is a nonablative, noninvasive process of treating the skin with intense pulsed light. It is used to treat some skin conditions such as broken capillaries, Rosacea, port wine stains, age spots, and freckles, sun damage, and mild to moderate wrinkles.
How does it work?
Photorejuvenation works by inducing controlled injury to the skin. The skin then renews (rejuvenates) itself in response to the thermal injury and heals itself by creating new cells and stimulating new collagen. Although we cannot stop the aging process, we can turn back the clock somewhat in the aging process by photorejuvenation. A French clinical study published in the Journal Watch Dermatology, February 27th, 2002 cited a study of 52 subjects undergoing intense pulsed lights treatments around the eyes and mouth. The results showed favorable results using digital photos, ultrasound imaging, and skin texture analysis by profilometry of silicone imprints. Not only were the results positive when measured objectively, each of the subjects gave positive subjective reports.
Who is the ideal candidate?
The ideal candidate is someone with mild to moderate photoaging. Persons with darker skin types possibly may not be a candidate due to the large amount of melanin in their skin. Photorejuvenation treatments at Fixx include: AFT
